Former WASP, Lucile Wise, 92, waits for pilot Chad Graves as the two prepare to fly in a 1942 Boeing-Stearman biplane at the airport in Centennial, Colo, Nov. 5, 2012. The Women Airforce Service Pilots of World War II, the first women to fly military aircraft, fought hard to receive veteran status and didn't get it until 1977, long after their history had been buried. In 2012, they are celebrated at the 10th annual gala for Wings Over the Rockies. There are seven surviving WASPs in Colorado - four will be at the gala, plus 10 from other states. Wise, 92, is a veteran WASP. She was treated to a ride on the plane - the same model as the one she first trained during World War II. (AP Photo/The Denver Post, Helen H. Richardson)
