Mr. and Mrs. Earlin Eugene Penner will celebrate their 60th anniversary with a come-and-go reception for family and friends 2-4 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 17, at Fairview Community Center, hosted by their children.
Both are graduates of Fairview High School.
Earlin Eugene Penner and Bette Marie (Foster) were married Nov. 21, 1953, at her parent’s home in Skellytown, Texas. They have lived nearly all their married life in Fairview.
Earlin established a career in grocery management for 20 years with Woodward Redbud, Wedel Foods and Ideal Food Store. He changed careers in 1972, and worked in various manufacturing positions with Waldon for 24 years. After his retirement in 1996, he operated Penner Mower Repair Service.
Bette spent many years raising her family in the home. She also operated a home and motel cleaning service for 20 years. She has served as a community volunteer for the Fairview Regional Medical Center and Hospital Foundation Member for 24 years.
Earlin and Bette are active, longstanding members of Saron Mennonite Church, Orienta. Both have served the church in many capacities, including deacon, pianist and church secretary.
Their children are Dwaine and Sheri Penner, Harrah, Okla.; Penny Schaefer, Gore, Okla.; Chrysta Kuhns, Kyle, Texas; and Randy Penner, Fairfax, Va. They have 10 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren, with the sixth expected in January.
