Mr. and Mrs. Fred Alexander will celebrate their 60th anniversary with family.
Fred Alexander and Twila Sanderson were married Sept. 27, 1953, at Canton Christian Church in Canton, Okla.
In addition to being a farmer-cattle rancher, Fred was employed by the Frisco Railroad Co.; 18 years at United States Gypsum; Haye’s butcher truck out of Enid; and 17 years as Canton city superintendent. Fred also worked for cable companies, servicing the Canton, Longdale, Cleo Springs and Fort Supply areas. He served as a volunteer for the Canton Fire Department and was an EMT for Canton Ambulance.
Twila graduated from SWOSU in 1969, and taught her first year of vocal music at Lomega. The next 23 years were spent teaching vocal music and social studies at Canton.
Retiring in 1993, she has continued as music director of Canton Christian Church, where she and Fred are both members.
They have two daughters, Cheryl Martin and husband Calvert, Enid, and Jan Shaw and husband Mike, Nashville, Tenn. They have four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
