ENID, Okla. —
Mr. and Mrs. Gary L. Young celebrated their 50th anniversary in Hawaii and will celebrate at a reception for family and friends 1:30-3:30 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 9, 2012, at Oakwood Country Club.
Gary Young and Sherry Cross were married Dec. 1, 1962, at First Methodist Church in Chandler, Okla.
They made their first home in Enid, moving to Okmulgee and Oklahoma City for short periods of time. They returned to Enid in 1969, as managers of the Mr. Steak Restaurant on South Van Buren.
In 1973, Gary entered the real estate business and has continued in the profession for 39 years. He served on the Enid City Council from 1975 to 1979.
In 1995, they bought a RE/MAX Franchise and continue to own and operate the local RE/MAX office.
Sherry has worked at Uptown Florist, was secretary at Garfield Elementary and is office administrator for RE/MAX.
Their children are Kurt and Cindy Young, Enid, and Rodney and Susan Young, Norman. They have five grandchildren.
