Although Continental Resources’ rapid growth has prompted the company to move its headquarters to Oklahoma City, CEO Harold Hamm expects his other companies will continue to grow in Enid.
While announcing Continental Resources is moving to Oklahoma City last week, Hamm told the News & Eagle he sees some of his other companies in the same position for growth Continental witnessed about five years ago. He said those companies will remain in Enid and continue to grow — likely filling office spaces vacated by Continental.
One of those companies, Hiland Partners, is a midstream energy limited partnership engaged in purchasing, gathering, compressing, dehydrating, treating, processing and marketing natural gas; fractionating and marketing of natural gas liquids; and purchasing, gathering, blending, storing and marketing of crude oil.
Hiland Partners already is experiencing growth, said Hamm, who is the company’s chairman of the board.
Hiland is headquartered in Enid and currently has offices in the Continental South tower.
“We’re not pulling up stakes with everybody here,” Hamm said. “Several companies are still here and they need additional space.”
Hamm will continue to own Continental Towers buildings in Enid.
Hamm’s other companies are Complete Production Services Mid-Continent operation, which Hamm & Phillips is associated with and which has about 200 employees in the Enid area. Hamm also has Banner Transportation Co. LLC, which has five employees. His other interests remaining in Enid include Hamm Management Co. and Hamm Financial.
Just as Hamm was entrepreneurial in starting Continental Resources, the other companies are entrepreneurial endeavors as well, he said.
Hamm said Enid has been a good community to grow his companies, and he touted Enid has a good place for entrepreneurial companies to thrive.
“Enid is a great place for entrepreneurial companies,” he said.
Continental Towers also may be available for lease to other companies as what Hamm classifies as Class A office space.
