ENID, Okla. —
Garber FFA member Jarred Strate attended the National FFA Proficiency and Stars Travel Seminar in Costa Rica in June.
This seminar empowers FFA leaders by providing them with a global perspective.
Through this experience, participants gain knowledge by visiting farms and agribusinesses.
Strate was selected to attend the trip after being named a national finalist in the beef production placement proficiency area.
Fifty FFA members and 10 chaperones from all across the United States attended the seminar.
During the course of the seminar, Strate toured the Dole Banana Farm, Corsicana Pineapple Plantation, Palma Tica African Palm Field, Doka Coffee Plantation, Senor Don Juan’s agricultural farm and sugar cane processor, and the Private Cloud Forest Biological Reserve. He also did some sightseeing in the capital city of Costa Rica, San Jose.
He experienced the Costa Rican culture and countryside by going to La Paz Waterfall Gardens, whitewater rafting on the Sarapiqui River, swimming in the natural hot spring swimming pool at Ecoter-males Fortuna, walking on the Arenal Hanging Bridges, and ziplining in the rain forest.
