ENID, Okla. — Eleven members of the Fairview FFA chapter were among 55,000 who recently attended the National FFA Convention in Louisville, Ky.

Attending were Jennifer Bedwell, Lindsay Pembrook, Holly Heinrichs, Rachael Hopkins, Bailey Deutschdorf, Audrey Dunlap, Ashley Tucker, Bethany Niles, Will Church, Maggie Martens and Kara Schlotthauer.

These FFA members attended several convention sessions where they were inspired by the National FFA officers and many motivational speakers, including Rick Patino and Joe Torillo. The Fairview FFA chapter was recognized on stage as a Three-Star, National Gold Emblem Award winner. This award is the highest award a chapter can receive on the national level.

Fairview FFA members also had the opportunity to do some sightseeing. They visited the Gateway Arch in St. Louis, toured Churchill Downs and also spent an evening in Nashville.

Recently, Fairview FFA competed in the opening ceremonies and Greenhand quiz contests. At the P.I. Greenhand contest in Ringwood, Bethany Niles tied for first place and qualified for the state competition. Also in the Greenhand quiz contest, Will Church finished fourth, Maggie Martens fifth and Kara Schlotthauer eighth. Niles finished as state runner-up at the state FFA Greenhand quiz contest held in Stillwater.

Mr. Lundry, Fairview FFA Advisor stated,

“Being second in the entire state is a huge accomplishment for Bethany considering there were over 5,000 freshmen FFA members who studied the Greenhand quiz this fall,” said Jerrod Lundry, Fairview FFA adviser.

In the P.I. opening veremonies contest, the team of Ashley Tucker, Tori Sessions, Karley Boyer, Sydney Hutchison, Caitlyn Ralston and Jensen Smith finished second.

Fairview FFA also held its annual labor auction Oct. 28. The amount raised to support the FFA chapter totaled just more than $20,000.
