ENID, Okla. —
Going to Walmart during the holiday season it is considered normal to hear the “ring, ring, ring” of Salvation Army bells as a volunteer stands outside in the cold weather to collect money for the organization.
Recently, Alva FFA members volunteered a few hours each from their Saturday to ring the bells for Salvation Army. Salvation Army is a Christian charity organization that raises money for those in need. Salvation Army is serving more people in the country than ever before.
Last year, approximately 30 million people received help from Salvation Army.
By assisting with this volunteer work, the FFA chapter raised hundreds of dollars in a few short hours.
Since community service is one of the main focuses of the FFA organization, Alva members will continue their service next month with Kids against Hunger in Cherokee.
