Nickels win state horse show honors

ENID, Okla. — Oakleigh, Reed and Hayden Nickel, of Nickel Quarter Horses, received state honors five years in a row at the 2013 State 4-H Horse Show held June 20-22 in Shawnee.

Hayden received grand champion with her mare Count My Curves in the mares 5 years and under class; Oakleigh received reserve grand champion with her mare Yella Gem; and Reed received fourth with his mare Skips Phenomenal. Both Reed and Oakleigh showed in the mares 6 years and over class.

Over the past five years the Nickel children have been honored with five state grand championships and three state reserve grand championships.

Nickel Quarter Horses also was represented at the Northwest District 4-H Horse Show on June 1 in Cherokee.

Oakleigh received grand champion mare; Hayden was reserve grand champion mare; and Reed placed second.

Nickel Quarter Horses is owned and operated by Reggy and Eldon Nickel.
