Schovanec shows heifer in national expo

ENID, Okla. — Braden Schovanec exhibited his Hereford heifer at the Junior National Hereford Expo held July 14-21 in Kansas City.

This show is one of the largest junior-breed shows in the United States. This year, there were more than 1,000 heifers exhibited. Schovanec’s heifer placed first in Class 85 and was reserve Division 3 Polled Hereford heifer.

Garber FFA members Kami Oller, Schovanec, Garret Heinich and 4-H members Hannah Herzer, Tori Johnson, Summer Prince, Shelby Prince, Koda Oller and Carson Schovanec competed at the Turner Falls Classic Goat Jackpot Show in Sulphur on July 27-28. They competed against many other showmen from across the state with great results.

On day one, doe placings were Braden Schovanec, first place, Class 5, and Oller, reserve grand champion. In wether competition, Braden Schovanec’s placings were: Class 3, first place and grand champion; Class 5, first place and reserve grand champion; and Class 6, second place. Others were: Oller, Class 4, fifth place; Heinich, Class 4, 10th place; Herzer, Class 4, first place; Johnson, Class 5, third place; and Carson Schovanec, Class 3, third place. In showmanship, Oller received first place in senior wether showmanship.

On day two, doe placings were Braden Schovanec, Class 4, second, and Oller, reserve grand champion. In wether competition, Braden Schovanec’s placings were: Class 3, third place; Class 4, first place and grand champion; Class 5, fourth place. Others were: Oller, Class 4, second place; Heinich, Class 4, eighth place; Herzer, Class 4, third place; Johnson, Class 5, fifth place; and Carson Schovanec, Class 3, fifth place. In showmanship, Oller got second place senior wether showmanship and third place senior doe showmanship. Braden Schovanec also received overall wether points for the two days.
