CD students participate in auction

— On Aug. 14, Covington-Douglas FFA members took part in the Wildcat trophy auction.

They presented the trophies to be auctioned off to potential buyers. Money raised — $5,785 — went to livestock exhibitors. Participating in the livestock show were Dakota Schoeling, McKayla Scott, Jonah Bigbey, Quenten Thayer, Ashley Aldridge, Heaven Sinclair, Emily Franke, Marissa Jordan and Taber Cook.

The livestock show was Aug. 25. Results for FFA participants were: champion chester, Schoeling; champion Duroc, Thayer; champion Hamp, Franke; champion spot, Jordan; champion Poland, Jordan; champion York, Franke; champion cross, Schoeling; grand champion hog, Schoeling; reserve grand hot, Franke; showmanship, Jordan, intermediate; and showmanship, Schoeling, senior.

On Sept. 7, members participated in the Garfield County Fair Livestock Show. Results were:

Gilts — champion Chester, Schoeling; champion Duroc, Thayer; champion cross, Schoeling; grand champion, Schoeling; second, Class 1 Duroc, Bigbey; second, Class 2 Poland, Jordan; second, Class 2 cross, Sinclair; fourth, Class 2, Cook; fourth, Class 3 Duroc, Scott; second, special lights, Scott.

Barrow — champion Hamp, Franke; reserve champion Poland, Jordan; champion cross, Franke; grand champion hog, Franke; reserve grand hog, Franke; first, Class 2 Chester, Hunter Scott; first, class 1 Duroc, Aldridge; third, Class 3 Hamp, Sinclair; second, Class 2 Hamp, Schoeling; third, Class 1 ross, Thayer; fourth, Class 1 cross, Franke; first, Class 1 and champion Cross, Franke; showmanship, Franke, intermediate; showmanship, Schoeling, senior; and first, special lights, Jordan.

Franke participated in the State Fair of Oklahoma. She placed second in Class 3 with a cross and second in Class 4 with a cross. She had the reserve grand hog in Class 4 with a cross.

On Sept. 24, officers attended the Colt conference in Enid. Officers are: Schoeling, president; McKayla Scott, vice president; Clifton Jones, treasurer; Gavin Reim, sentinel; Franke, reporter; and Jordan, secretary. The conference is a leadership course for FFA officers.
